13 November 2019

After attending Pod Car City, Eric was able to meet with Ed Porter, an attendee who is part of Santa Cruz PRT on Friday, November 8th.  Mr. Porter possesses a guideway, bogie, controller, linear induction motor (LIM) that the Power Modules team can use.  Mr. Porter was able to bring all these components except for the guideway on November 13th, Wednesday.  The guideway will have to be transported to the Superway facility at a later date, which is still to be determined.  Mr. Porter also has expressed a willingness to provide a DC to AC inverter and a phase inverter for the adaption of the DC power devices currently being used by Superway.

Time will need to be allocated to learning more about the LIM and how it is wired since there is limited documentation regarding this aspect from the motor's previous use.  Along with the motor, the controller provided by Mr. Porter will also need to be familiarized.  A block diagram of the components in the project, such as the charger, BMS, DC/DC converter, DC/AC inverter, 3-phase inverter, motor controller, and other components has been made.

For this coming week, work on the schematic for the PCB will continue, and preparation for the presentation and final report will commence.
